What The Client Needed

Boston Consulting Group (BCG) needed a high-impact brand presence for its new Chicago office—one that could command attention across the city skyline while creating a cohesive experience inside the building. The project required a single partner to coordinate complex high-rise signage, glass-facade engineering, permitting, fabrication, electrical sequencing, logistics, and interior integration.

  • Prominent exterior branding visible from the surrounding Chicago skyline
  • Illuminated logo letters that performed from day into night
  • A lower-level exterior letter set and coordinated building identification numbers
  • An interior logo adapted to an existing stone veneer lobby wall
  • Dedicated oversight of budget, schedule, engineering, approvals, and installation

What We Delivered

PSCO Sign Group delivered a turnkey program. The scope included:

  • Three complete letter sets: a high-rise facade set, lower-level/garage set, and interior lobby set
  • High-rise LED face-lit logo letters measuring 12’ 1.5″ high by 31’3.625″ wide, with a gray finish by day and brilliant white illumination at night
  • Lower-level LED face-lit logo letters measuring 6’ 2.6875″ high by 16’0.75″ wide
  • Interior non-illuminated fabricated channel letters measuring approximately 3’ 6″ high
  • Building identification numbers as part of the exterior branding scope
  • Full municipal permitting and licensed Illinois structural engineering
  • A custom knife plate and mullion connection system for the glass-curtain wall
  • Oversized transportation coordination, certified swing-stage installation, electrical sequencing, and jobsite safety management
  • Interior logo adaptation and mounting into the existing stone veneer base

Full Project Story

BCG’s new Chicago office called for more than a prominent logo. It required a carefully engineered brand presence that could perform on an approximately 400-foot glass building and remain consistent from the skyline to the lobby. PSCO Kieffer managed the project as a full-service signage partner, bringing together design coordination, engineering, permitting, in-house fabrication, logistics, installation, and interior integration under one accountable team.

The high-rise installation presented a demanding structural challenge: mounting 12-foot illuminated letters to an all-glass curtain wall. A licensed Illinois structural engineer certified a custom knife plate and mullion connection system designed to distribute the approximately 3,200-poundcombined exterior letter load across multiple attachment points. The 31-foot-wide high-rise letter set also required oversized transportation coordination, followed by a certified swing-stage installation with electrical sequencing and safety protocols managed at height.

The completed exterior signage delivers a strong BCG presence across Chicago, with a gray daytime finish that transitions to brilliant white LED illumination after dark. At the lower level, a coordinated letter set and building identification numbers extend the brand experience across the property. Inside, the exterior logo concept was adapted into approximately 3-foot-6-inch non-illuminated channel letters and mounted on the existing stone-veneer lobby wall. The result is a cohesive, day-and-night brand presence supported by quality and precision at every stage.
